YANHONG
“"Yanhong" is a poignant and profound short film that portrays the life of a prostitute. She sits in front of a microphone in a KTV room, establishing a unique emotional connection with a rooster on her hometown hill. This short film, through delicate narration and profound character development, delves deeply into themes of loneliness, longing, and loss.
Yanhong is a prostitute living on the outskirts of the city, her life filled with exhaustion and solitude. Every night, as darkness falls, she works in a KTV lounge, using her singing and smiles to conceal the bitterness within her heart. However, she harbors a unique dream - to have a home and live with the rooster from her hometown. This rooster symbolizes her yearning for freedom and a warm life, becoming her sole companion in her loneliness.
Every evening, while singing in the KTV room, Yanhong's thoughts drift to the rooster on her hometown hill. She prepares food for the rooster, gives it a name, and even in the long nights, she softly speaks her heart into the microphone, as if expressing her love to the rooster. This unique emotional bond becomes her only solace in life.
However, one sudden day, the rooster disappears. Yanhong feels a profound sense of loss and loneliness. She doesn't know where the rooster has gone, but she knows that her life has become even emptier. At that moment, she begins to reflect on her life, questioning whether her yearning for freedom and a warm home was merely a fantasy and whether she can change her own destiny.”
